Basic Ayurveda Grain Recipe

Basic Grain

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice (ie white rice)

  • ½ cup other grain (ie, quinoa)

  • 3 cups water

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp cumin powder

  • 1 Tbs ghee

 

Directions:

  • Soak grains overnight in enough water to cover by few inches

  • Drain in the morning

  • Place all ingredients into saucepan and cover on high

  • Bring to a boil

  • Stir & cover

  • Reduce to simmer (time varies according to grain – cook as long as the grain that requires the most time needs, ie, white basmati rice = 20 minutes, brown rice = 45 minutes)
